New Training Routine? Kick It into Gear with These Tips
Starting a new training routine is always exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. You set expectations for yourself, and you want to make sure you live up to them. Whether you are starting a new training routine now or are putting it off until January, there are certain things you should consider, if you want that routine to be successful. Here are some tips to make the best out of your new routine.
Define a Plan
If you have a goal, you need a plan. Going for a run now and then or walking into a gym without a clear idea of what you should be doing is not going to pay off. Whether you work with a personal trainer or buy a ready-made program off the internet, be sure to have a plan in place so you can track your progress over time.
Block Out Time for Your Workouts
When you have recurring meetings in your calendar, you have to plan the rest of the day around them. Treat your workouts as meetings that you can’t refuse. Consider them a crucial meeting with a VIP guest: yourself. So, define what days work best for you and book some time in your calendar for your workouts. The time that you spend on your health is never wasted.
Get the Right Supplementation
Do you need more protein to achieve goals? Maybe you need to help your body recover, or maybe, you’re not sure what you need as of yet. No two bodies are the same. Your needs will depend on a variety of factors. Talk to a health professional about your new routine and how you’re feeling with it so they can recommend supplements that will work for you.
Stock Up with Healthy Foods
All those chips and cookies in your kitchen cabinets will have to find somewhere else to live. Preferably, not in your house. Replace them with real food. You don’t have to say no to all of your favorite treats forever, but when you’re starting a training plan, it is best to be in a controlled environment where temptation won’t get the best of you.
Make Others Aware of Your Plan
Let your friends and family know what you’re up to. That is a good way to keep yourself accountable and build a support system around you.
